-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BPM: Can you share with us a bit about your journey into the music industry? What inspired you to become a recording artist?

Posh Morris: I have always had an undying love for music. From an early age I was exposed to gospel music in church and as I grew older this admiration grew to other genres such as reggae, dancehall, hip hop, rap and R&B to name a few. I entered quite a few competitions back then and made use of the knowledge I gained from those experiences.

BPM: Who were some of your early musical influences that shaped your style and sound?

Posh Morris: I have always been a supporter of music by female artists. So, Lady Saw and Queen Ifrica played an instrumental role in my style and sound. We are in a male dominated industry, so to witness their ability to dominate a stage while delivering bold and vibrant lyrics is worth acknowledging. I also admired Cecile’s musical brand; she was able to give us dancehall with a world sound. Additionally, females such as Ashanti and Nicki Minaj are an essential part of the culture. When it comes to the males, the King of the Dancehall Beenie Man’s charisma, style, and ability to find hits after hits is admirable and of course, Aidonia’s stellar stage presence and unique sound.

BPM: How do you use your music to convey messages or tell stories that are important to you?

Posh Morris: Music that is real resonates well with fans, so being able to construct real and relatable stanzas is important to me. As a creative, my fans mean the world to me, so being able to connect with them through words and sound helps with retaining my trusted fans while building new fans. After all, it’s the fans that keep our music alive.

BPM: Traditionally, many recording artists opt for a path in music over formal education, yet you chose to complete school with a major in performing arts, music, acting, and dub poetry. Do you believe that having this educational foundation has positively influenced your career journey? What specific qualities or skills from pursuing this direction do you feel have been instrumental in enhancing your success?

Posh Morris: Marcus Garvey believed that “It is by education that we become prepared for our duties and responsibilities in life”. My studies made me fully equipped to deal with the entertainment industry as a whole. I can properly articulate myself in speech and song and effectively impart knowledge to my colleagues on the business of music. Having a vast knowledge about the history of my skills makes it easier for me to acknowledge its growth and study its evolution. It is this knowledge that guides my choices in lyrics, instrumentals, musical productions, and stage delivery, among other things.

BPM: Your diverse talents are truly remarkable – from your role as a recording artist to your successful leadership in the online business realm and your involvement in Ovation Lab with DJ Frankco for video and music production. Balancing these various roles while maintaining a personal life can be quite demanding. Could you share insights into how you effectively manage these roles and find equilibrium? Additionally, do you find greater enjoyment in your music endeavors compared to your other pursuits?

Posh Morris: Thank you for your kindness. Time management can be difficult for the top CEO of a multimillion-dollar company, likewise a stay-at-home mother with multiple children. It is a task. When I started in music, I struggled with this. However, as I progressed and improved on my skills, I found ways to cope by setting priorities, scheduling, delegating tasks, and, most importantly, avoiding procrastination. When your job is your passion and you keep the fun in it, you are better able to structure, organize, and create balance in your life. With all the skills I have acquired over the years, music has remained my top priority. Music has always been and remains my first love.

BPM: How do you hope your music impacts your listeners and what do you ultimately want them to take away from your songs?

Posh Morris: Music is art. My fans interpret my music in different ways, but I always want them to be entertained. Life is already challenging so we release music that has a feel-good and relatable energy no matter the topic at hand.

BPM: I was introduced to your artistry through another talented artist feature, Double DDee, who, like you, is known for her multifaceted abilities. She produced your track “Have It” on the VIP Riddim under her label Da'Vgion Music in 2017. Your lyrical prowess flawlessly complemented the riddim, showcasing a distinct and captivating style. Could you provide insights into the formation of this project? How did the inspiration for the song come about, and what was the collaborative process like?

Posh Morris: I was introduced to Double DDee through a mutual friend. I support females within the industry, so it was a no-brainer to work with her in this capacity. The single “Have It” was inspired by confident women who know their value and worth. It’s a fun yet sexy song. Working with her was very easy, she sent me the rhythm and I recorded it from my own studio, and we got the job done.

BPM: In 2021, you stepped into the renowned social media contest Datz Easy Challenge, hosted by Aidonia on the Style by Style Riddim, crafted by Chimney Records. Your freestyle actually went viral across social media, and shortly thereafter, Aidonia embraced a mentorship role in your journey. This partnership led to remarkable moments, including your appearance on stage at the New Rules Festival in 2022 and a performance at Reggae Sumfest alongside Aidonia during the same year. Could you share your experiences with the ongoing mentorship from Aidonia? Furthermore, what emotions did you experience while gracing such prominent stages, showcasing your talents alongside one of the most illustrious lyrical icons in the dancehall industry?

Posh Morris: Aidonia has been a stellar mentor, he is very humble and uses each moment as a teachable one. I learn through my association with him and look forward to continuing this lucrative relationship. I have been preparing for the big stage throughout my career, so I felt at home. It was a phenomenal experience for me, and I look forward to gracing other platforms of a larger magnitude locally and internationally.

BPM: As another real bad gal, I'm truly drawn to the raw power of your hardcore lyrics. A prime illustration is your unforgettable freestyle session alongside Chris Satta in 2022 – the verbal dexterity was nothing short of astonishing! I distinctly recall the moment you spit fire and said, “Di Heckler & Koch and di Glock 40 mi claat it... nuh care if yuh do karate. Shot ah fling like happy birthday ah party. Suh if ah war yuh waan pu**y mi will start it.” It practically had me on the edge of my seat shouting explicits and bussing blanks! Your ability to effortlessly evoke such incredible lyrics is truly remarkable. Could you share a glimpse into your freestyle expertise and how you conjure these phenomenal verses as if they're second nature?

Posh Morris: Thank you for acknowledging this. My freestyle is very much second nature. It comes from putting my craft first above everything else. I read a lot, I write and recite poetry, and have a perpetual love for literature. I articulate my thoughts through lyrics and incorporate my knowledge of current affairs, and reality. I approach each rhythm differently, while I like to write, most times I allow my mind and my heart to speak about the realness of what’s happening now.

BPM: Do you have a preference when it comes to performing, do you enjoy performing to tracks or with a live band? Could you share your reasons for this choice and how it enhances your experience on stage?

Posh Morris: I really enjoy both and have had experiences with both. Not every event will have a band, so I am able to deliver regardless. With bands, I love the fact that we are employing our musicians, and that they are recreating the instrumentals made in studio, so it adds great value.

BPM: Numerous female artists express the viewpoint that the music industry poses greater challenges for women compared to their male counterparts. Do you share this perspective, and if so, what changes do you believe could help shift this perception and create a more balanced and equitable environment for female artists?

Posh Morris: It is a fact that women encounter more challenges than males in the music industry; likewise, I believe the challenges can be different between both sexes. I believe that change must begin with all stakeholders involved in the production and business of music. As women, we want to be able to get equal pay offers, endorsements, and other deals that are lucrative to our growth and development. Additionally, we want to be included in the decision making and production of our music.

BPM: Collaborations can often bring fresh perspectives and creative energy. Is there a dream collaboration you have in mind, whether it's with another artist, producer, or in a different creative field?

Posh Morris: There are so many people I would love to collaborate with. Steven ‘Di Genius’ and Timberland are on the top of my list, along with Sean Paul and Aidonia. Additionally, I am open to aligning my brand with several global brands.

BPM: Your voyage in the music industry has likely been filled with growth and learning. Could you share a key lesson or understanding you've gained along the way that has had a significant impact on your career?

Posh Morris: You must learn the business of music. We hear this advice over and over in the music industry and I must reiterate that. Because of my knowledge, I am better able to make decisions that impact my career on a wider scale.

BPM: What’s next for the top tier queen? Can you give us a glimpse into any upcoming projects, collaborations, or new releases that your fans and our readers can look forward to?

Posh Morris: I have new music and music videos coming out soon. I am also dropping a massive freestyle for my fans who have been sending me fan mail requesting more of these. Lastly, you can look out for some collaborations, but I won’t say much on that just yet. Fans can stay connected with me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok @PoshMorris to find out more.

As we wrap up our interview with the extraordinary Posh Morris, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for joining us. Be sure to stay tuned for our Spotlight Artist of the Week next week, and thank you for continuing to be a part of our journey in celebrating exceptional talent.

I stick to my path because I have a unique style to my delivery, so I create my own lane and stay in it.

Shawn Ice: I sing about topics they can relate to. During my performances, I engage with them so they feel as though they are a part of what I'm doing.

Could you discuss some of these obstacles you've faced and elaborate on the strategies or mindset that helped you overcome them, ultimately propelling you to the level of success you've attained?

Shawn Ice: To be honest, low airplay is one of the many obstacles I'm currently facing. However, I will always remain positive and never allow it to get the best of me. I know that one day, I'll reap even greater benefits.

BPM: Social media has become such a powerful force in the music industry. How do you personally navigate its impact on your career and personal life? Are there ways in which you believe it has significantly shaped your journey as an artist?

Shawn Ice: Utilizing social media has enabled me to cultivate a stronger bond with my supporters. It has revealed the presence of genuine individuals who stand by Shawn Ice and the associated brand. Participating in Instagram Live sessions as an artist, I cherish the moments when my supporters share their creative ideas. Even the constructive critiques are valuable, as they drive me to continuously improve and excel.

BPM: Your recent visit to Jamaica for performances caught the attention of many. Could you share your observations about the support you received from the local audience there? How does the connection with your fans in Jamaica compare to your US fan base?

Shawn Ice: The energy in Jamaica was overwhelming! I was in awe, taken aback by the immense love and the incredible enthusiasm my supporters showered upon me, especially after not performing in Jamaica for such a long time. To be honest, I can't compare the connection – I receive love both in the US and Jamaica. This constant support only serves as a motivator for me to push even harder and deliver exceptional music.

Additionally, I'll be relaunching my clothing line in conjunction with other businesses under the 3rdazzz Ent umbrella. While I won't disclose too much for now, rest assured my supporters will be proud to identify as Shawn Ice fans.

BPM: What advice would you give to aspiring young artists who look up to you and are trying to make their mark in the music industry?

Shawn Ice: Just stay focused, keep working, keep writing. Time is the master, and when it's your time, make sure you're ready. #StayReady

He envisions a future where his music not only resonates with audiences worldwide but also contributes positively to the evolution of dancehall and reggae. Jahazeil's passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his craft make it clear that he's well on his way to achieving these goals.

In conclusion, Jahazeil's story is one of inspiration and determination. We eagerly anticipate the musical journey that lies ahead for this up-and-coming sensation and are excited to witness the positive impact he's sure to make on the genre.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BPM: Could you provide some insights into your upbringing in Kingston, Jamaica, and shed light on the factors that led you to pursue a career in the field of music?

Jahazeil: Growing up in Kingston, Jamaica the area I’m from is called Havendale. Being raised in the community was very peaceful and quiet. What started my music career is when I was a baby my father always took me to the studio. Since the tender age of 8, I would spontaneously freestyle over tracks by my father and Bounty Killer. Given their close relationship, my father and Bounty Killer often found themselves in each other's company, and it was within these shared spaces that my deep affection for music began to flourish.

BPM: What are the key attributes or talents that you believe set you apart and contribute to your excellence as a musician?

Jahazeil: What distinguishes me is that whenever I sing, people consistently note my distinctive sound—a truly unique quality. Moreover, I take pride in being a skilled songwriter.

BPM:  What is the most valuable or impactful advice you've received from a fellow musician during your career?

Jahazeil: I would have to say the most valuable advice I’ve received was to be confident in what I’m doing and that I am talented but I need to let the shyness go.

BPM: Back in 2017, your track "Hold On," produced by Delly Ranx's Pure Music Production on the Cotton Swabb Riddim, created quite a sensation. The single garnered substantial attention from newspapers, fans, and amassed thousands of views on YouTube. Did you anticipate such a strong and positive response to the song? Could you also share the inspiration behind crafting this particular track?

Jahazeil:  I always knew that song was special so I knew it was going to be well-received by the audience. I drew inspiration for writing that song by keenly observing real-life scenarios, which deeply influenced the lyrics and emotions conveyed within it.

BPM: In March 2019, you had the incredible opportunity to perform alongside your father, the renowned reggae/dancehall veteran Buju Banton, during his Long Walk to Freedom Concert at Kingston National Stadium. Could you describe the emotions and sensations you experienced while sharing the stage with such an iconic figure in front of such a massive audience?

Jahazeil: I was a bit nervous performing on my dad's stage, but the experience was truly remarkable. It has helped me cultivate bravery in all my endeavors, despite my innate shyness. While I'm still an introverted individual, I am gradually stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing personal growth.

BPM: How do you see the role of technology and digital platforms in shaping the future of the music industry?

Jahazeil: I have no issue with the role of technology and digital platforms in shaping the future of the music industry. They undoubtedly make it easier for artists to gain exposure and recognition, offering distinct advantages. However, it's a mixed blessing as it can both propel artists forward and potentially undermine the development of a strong foundational base.

BPM: Are there any fellow recording artists who have inspired you? What specific qualities or attributes of theirs do you find admirable and look up to?

Jahazeil: Yes, there have been influential artists who have deeply inspired me, such as my dad, Spragga Benz, Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, and Mavado, among others. I am drawn to their distinctive musical styles, marked by their assertive and impactful delivery.

BPM: If music weren't your chosen path, what alternate career or pursuit do you think you would have embarked upon at this point in your life? Why this choice?

Jahazeil: Had I not pursued a musical path, I likely would have ventured into journalism, perhaps even authoring books, given my passion for writing.

BPM: If you had the power to make a significant change within the music industry, what specific aspect or issue would you choose to address and transform? Why would you do this?

Jahazeil: If I had the power to make a significant change within the music industry, I would consider implementing restrictions on certain types of music currently being released. The prevalent music styles are potentially affecting the overall atmosphere and frequencies, which might be contributing to a sense of turmoil and unrest among people worldwide.

BPM: As an emerging artist, what would you consider to be the most formidable obstacle or challenge you've encountered on your journey to success?

Jahazeil:  I’ve learned that things won’t always be smooth. You will have a lot a setbacks and bumpy rides.

BPM: What messages or themes do you strive to convey through your music?

Jahazeil: I am dedicated to creating positive music that shines a light and spreads uplifting messages.

BPM:  How do you stay motivated and continue to evolve creatively, especially during times of challenges or creative blocks?

Jahazeil: I maintain my motivation and foster ongoing creative growth through prayer, seeking solace in a dedicated prayer room, taking leisurely walks, and finding inspiration by sitting beneath a tranquil tree.

BPM: Can you reveal any upcoming projects or collaboration that your fans and our readers can look forward to?

Jahazeil: I am presently making several singles. My most recent unveilings encompass "Soul Cry," a production by Ireland Records, as well as "Through the Storm," expertly produced by Double Trackz. Currently, I am not engaged in any collaborations, but I am open and enthusiastic about the prospect of collaborating with fellow artists in the future.

BPM: How do you envision your artistic journey unfolding over the next five years?

Jahazeil: In the next five years I see myself doing more shows, getting major awards, and more recognition.

BPM: If someone wants to follow a music career similar to yours, what guidance would you offer them?

Jahazeil: Have faith in the journey and your own abilities. Embrace the process, for at the beginning, few may stand by your side; yet, as you achieve success, supporters will rally behind you.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to shine the spotlight on this week's featured artist. Introducing an emerging musical sensation poised to captivate the world's ears, D'east, hailing from the vibrant city of Kingston, Jamaica. With an unwavering devotion to his craft, D'east has seamlessly woven his lifelong passion for music into an inspiring journey towards the zenith of the industry. Fueled by an unyielding local fan base, he's been on an upward trajectory, steadily ascending towards the pinnacle of recognition. Beyond mere melodies and rhymes, D'east envisions music as a powerful tool for enlightenment, striving not only to entertain but also to educate. His artistic mission revolves around infusing positivity into impressionable young minds and delivering profound messages that resonate with the hearts of many. As his star continues to rise, D'east stands as a beacon of musical promise, committed to crafting a sound that reverberates with meaning and purpose. We had the distinct pleasure of engaging in an exclusive interview with D'east, delving into the insights and inspirations that fuel his remarkable musical odyssey.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BPM: Could you provide our readers with a glimpse into your background as a recording artist, including your upbringing and early experiences that have shaped your musical journey?

D’east: My musical journey started at Kingston College. This school is filled with creative minds and comedians, and as such, I was surrounded by a lot of peers that were making music out of jest. I would make rhythms by hitting the benches in the classrooms and remixing popular songs - usually parodies, like food songs in the canteen. This built my confidence, because you had to be quick and witty to do this among peers who were quick to laugh. I would also voice students and other peers my age at home by making a make-shift studio with a computer microphone that was wrapped with socks.

When I left high school, I started downloading music from a website that had a chatroom. This is where I met Mark and Bradley. We would hang out and talk about music; talking about something you love with other people who are also passionate about it, makes your appreciation for it grow even more. This is what happened with me and music. They created a crew called Fraseca, that I would then later join.

Music was never something that I had initially thought about as a career; athleticism was my first priority. I was an exceptional track runner and was good at football. My mom had cultivated this since I was a child, but as my life’s journey would have it, I fell in love with music, and haven’t looked back since.

BPM: Could you kindly share the story behind your stage name 'D'east' and shed light on any significance or meaning it holds? Furthermore, I'm intrigued by your moniker 'Grabba Chest.' Could you provide some insight into its origin and symbolism?

D’east: The 'D' is the first letter of my given name - Dominic. The 'East' symbolizes the fact that the sun always rises in that direction first, and is a reminder for me to always keep looking that way.  The moniker, 'Grabba Chest' on the other hand, came into fruition because I love weed! I love making weed songs, I love smoking it, I like smelling it. My close friend Humble Lion dubbed me that one day when we were hanging out, and the name stuck.

BPM: Your collaboration with Markus Records is quite notable. Are there any other producers with whom you're presently engaged or aspire to collaborate with in the future? If so, what draws you to working with these producers? Is there a specific element in the beats they create that resonates with your artistic vision?

D’east: I’ve worked with a number of talented producers, some of which include: EchoBeats, Fuze, Krisbeatz, KevStar Records and Mari the Producer. They’re always open to telling me their ideas and creative vision. They’re also very straight-forward, and I never have to question what’s on their minds. I love when producers are passionate about what they do, and own their work. It makes the chemistry even better.

There are also a number of producers that I would love to work with in the future. Steven 'Di Genius' McGregor is one that I definitely aspire to collaborate with because he’s been in the industry for so long, and still manages to maintain his relevancy. He’s also very talented.

I’d also love to work with Ricky Blaze, Don Corleon, Metro Boomin and True Ambassador. These are producers that I’ve grown up watching, and they have inspired me along my journey.

BPM: If you were to introduce your music to someone who is unfamiliar with your work, how would you best describe the style, mood, and essence of your musical creations?

D’east: I would say that I’m a versatile artist. My primary genre is dancehall; however, I’ve dabbled into EDM and plan on dabbling into reggae as well.

I would describe my music as vibey, uplifting, multifaceted (because of the different topics that I speak about), and raunchy at times.

BPM: In what ways do you believe your personal background and life experiences have shaped and impacted the development of your musical style and the themes present in your lyrics?

D’east: A lot of the topics that I sing about come from my own experiences and what I've been through. However, there are times when I sing about things that I aspire to achieve or want to see happen for myself. I put these thoughts into the universe as a way to attract them to me. For instance, 'Nah seh mah drive big Benz now, but imma get there.'

BPM: In the current music landscape, it's evident that sensuality often garners attention across various genres. Similarly, many dancehall tracks share similar themes, even though they're delivered by different artists. How do you manage to maintain your authentic artistic vision while also considering the expectations of your audience and the prevailing trends in dancehall lyrics today?

D’east: I try to keep up to date with what’s happening by reading news blogs and tuning in to social media. This way, I can manage to keep my songs trendy by using certain slangs and incorporating certain situations. It’s important, however, that I stay true to myself and my beliefs. I won’t jeopardize my values and principles for the sake of relevance or hype.

BPM:  How does collaboration factor into your creative process? Have you engaged in any notable collaborations with fellow artists, or do you have any aspirations to collaborate with specific artists in the future?

D’east: I actually don’t have a preference in terms of doing singles or collaborations. Once the energy is right, I can work with anyone.

Some notable collaborations that I’ve done in the past are, “Spaceship” with D’yani, and “Work & Party” with Flexx.

I would love to work with Busy Signal though. He is actually someone that I look up to in the music industry. His artistry and songs made me fall in love with the genre, and he is also very versatile. From his freestyles to his regular songs, he still manages to keep it corporate and professional too.

Ricky Blaze is another artist that I would love to work with. He’s vibey and has great dancing songs. He would be the perfect person to do a collaboration with, now that we’re in the TikTok era.

Bounty Killa & Buju Banton are also artists that I would love to do collabs with. They are the generals when it comes to my music.

Meek Mill is another artist whose music journey I've been closely following. He's an inspiration.

Other artists that I'd love to work with, if given the chance, include: J Hus, Kumar, Skepta, Vanessa Bling, Dua Lipa, Dave East, Valiant, Vershon, Masicka, Govana, and Chronic Law.

BPM:  Navigating the challenges that come with being an emerging artist can be quite demanding. Have there been moments in your journey where you've felt like giving up? If so, what strategies or inspirations do you draw upon to rekindle your motivation and push forward? Are there any particular influences or sources of strength that have played a significant role in your perseverance?

D’east: I’ve definitely had my fair share of times when I’ve felt defeated. When this happens, I try to clear my head from all my negative thoughts.

I’ll do this by either smoking and resting or listening to dancehall rhythms on YouTube - which really helps. Sometimes the energy of the music brings me back to life.

Watching TV is also a great way for me to escape. I recently watched Wu-Tang, which depicts men who are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become an American success story. Things like that inspire me, because I realize that a lot of people have to go through struggles within the music industry, and it makes me feel like I’m not alone; like I’m not the only one who experiences defeat.

Reading books is also a great way for me to escape. Big up Sharpe Reads who always has great book recommendations.

BPM: When it comes to managing feedback and criticism from both fans and critics, what is your approach? How do you navigate and interpret the positive and negative input you receive, and how does it influence your growth as an artist?

D’east: I embrace constructive criticism as an artist driven by a desire to elevate my craft. Understanding how I can refine my skills and welcoming diverse viewpoints is paramount to me. However, I can sense energy and I’m able to discern when negativity is directed my way.

BPM: Do you find yourself drawn to or inspired by any musical genres beyond your primary style? Are there specific genres that you enjoy exploring or that have influenced your creative process in unexpected ways?

D’east: I listen to London rap, afrobeats, pop and a lot of intricate harmonies of acoustic guitars. I also listen to Latin music too, because I’m intrigued with their dedication to preserving foundational musical elements while pushing the boundaries of innovation. It’s from these diverse influences that I gain inspiration, and then able to infuse my own distinctive style and essence into the songs that I create.

BPM: How do you view the dynamic between lyrics and melody in your music? Could you elaborate on your process for ensuring that these two elements work harmoniously together, creating a cohesive and impactful song?

D’east:  My favorite way of crafting a song is to immerse myself in the creative process alongside the producer, witnessing the gradual construction of the rhythm firsthand.

From the get-go, I will start to sync with the melody and hum. From this, I’ll vocalize a line, which then becomes the cornerstone for layering additional lyrics until the composition evolves into a complete song.  An example of this was the song I did called, “Sed Time,” that was produced by Fuze. From the very inception of shaping the rhythm, I was present, and the song began to take shape in real-time as the rhythm resonated with my creative instincts.

BPM: What exciting developments are on the horizon for D'east? Are there any ongoing projects or upcoming collaborations that you'd like to share with us?

D’east: I’ve been doing a lot of stage performances throughout the year, and this has been an incredibly invigorating experience. It has been helping to increase recognition and awareness among a broader audience, and that makes me really happy.

The Magnificent Mixtape is a recent collaboration of mine. It's already available on YouTube, and I'm currently in the process of crafting a part 2 that I plan to release soon.

I also have an EP set for release in January 2024. The direction of this endeavor is not clear as yet, however, the date is guaranteed.

With that, we conclude our insightful interview with D'east, hoping you've enjoyed this glimpse into the artist's journey and vision. Be sure to join us again next week as we unveil the next captivating spotlight artist of the week.

This week, we turn our focus to Sita D Lyrical Diva, the lyrically lethal 'First Lady' of St. Vincent and the Grenadines' dancehall and soca scene. Originally named Vasita Caine, she spent her formative years in the vibrant locale of Fairbaine Pasture, St. Vincent, under the guidance of her father, Ezekiel Morgan. Immersed in the Rastafarian way of life, thanks to her father's influence, Sita's introduction to reggae proved to be a pivotal moment. The melodious echoes of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh resonated deeply with her, sparking an enduring admiration for the unapologetic spirit of Jamaican musical expression.

Sita's introduction to the dancehall scene transpired in the 90s, a crucial juncture sparked by the pulsating beats of a Beenie Man track. In the retrospective light, it became evident that the innate power to orchestrate rhythmic motion resided within her. However, it wasn't until the age of 16 that the epiphany crystalized – a resolute aspiration to forge a path in the realm of music. This revelation unfurled within the walls of her social studies classroom, where the task at hand was to spotlight a societal malady through the medium of music. Drawing upon Beenie Man's evocative "Girl's Prayer," she ingeniously dissected the scourge of unemployment. Upon completing her impassioned exposition, even her typically reserved instructor leaped from her seat, exclaiming with ardent approval, "bap, bap, bap" – a triumphant bellow that underscored both validation and exhilaration.

A mere 19 years old, she unveiled her first single, "Kitchen Dunce," masterfully curated under the watchful guidance of producer Dougal Allen. This audacious debut promptly etched her name into the collective consciousness, cementing her status as a household presence. The composition itself posed a captivating challenge to women, beckoning them to showcase their culinary prowess through the rhythmic applause of their hands.

During her 2015 tour in Saint Lucia, an unexpected challenge from an audience member ignited a transformative moment for Sita. Spurred by the call for a freestyle performance, she seized the spotlight and delivered with such flair that it caught the attention of none other than dancehall luminary Demarco, who happened to be in attendance. Demarco, impressed by her spontaneous display of talent, extended his contact details as a testament to her extraordinary skills.

In a remarkable turn of events, Sita defied skeptics who had doubted the interest of Jamaican producers in Vincentian artists. Demarco's genuine admiration for her artistry led him to lend his vocal support, featuring her on his illustrious Tropical Punch Riddim. This compilation bore the signatures of esteemed artists including Spice, I-Octane, and Vybz Kartel, among others. In 2017, Sita's vibrant track "Inna Di Video" came to life through its accompanying music video, an energetic production set against the backdrop of Jamaica's creative milieu.

While Sita adeptly navigates the realm of soca, it's within the realm of dancehall that her heart finds its truest resonance. To her, dancehall is an embodiment of unfettered expression, a dynamic auditory canvas that allows emotions to be painted with vivid hues. In contrast, she perceives soca as a jubilant symphony of happiness, a genre that revels in infectious merriment.

In a resounding testament to her versatility, Sita's 2018 soca creation, "Hammer," carved its path to the grand stage of the International Bashment Soca Monarch competition in Barbados. This achievement marked her presence among the finalists, a feat that underscored her ability to captivate and electrify audiences with her vibrant musical craftsmanship.

In the nascent stages, the notion of Vincentian dancehall music finding its resonance on local airwaves seemed like an insurmountable achievement, met with reluctance from deejays who hesitated to rally behind the burgeoning movement. Amid this challenging landscape, Sita emerged as a trailblazer, unflinchingly championing the cause of dancehall within her homeland. While some critics questioned her commitment to the genre, Sita's audacious stance proved pivotal, as she dared to traverse uncharted musical territories that others were hesitant to tread.

With unwavering resolve, she etched her name into the fabric of her nation's musical narrative, embarking on a journey that would ultimately lead to her becoming a household name. To bridge the gap between her artistry and the eager ears of her compatriots, she ingeniously curated her own local tour, a vibrant odyssey that served as an introduction to her distinctive sound.

In a testament to her tenacity and unyielding spirit, Sita stands today as the undisputed envoy of Vincentian dancehall, a lone torchbearer illuminating the genre's path within her country's cultural landscape. Her resolute dedication and artistic daring have elevated her to the esteemed position of the sole legitimate Vincentian dancehall ambassador, a title forged through adversity, perseverance, and an unshakable belief in the power of her musical expression.

Embedded within the tapestry of Sita's career lies an indelible moment that continues to resonate with profound significance. This particular instance unfolded during a performance in her homeland, St. Vincent, where the venerable dancehall veteran, Bounty Killer, summoned her to share his illustrious stage. The sheer weight of this invitation, a testament to her burgeoning stature, ignited a surge of exhilaration within Sita.

Yet, such was the magnitude of the moment that her emotions momentarily overpowered her practicalities. Amid the rush of excitement, Sita momentarily overlooked a fundamental accessory of her trade - her microphone. As her heart raced with the thrill of the opportunity, the triviality of the oversight paled in comparison to the grandeur of the occasion. This candid oversight, rather than diminishing the moment, crystallized it, offering a glimpse into the raw, unfiltered passion that fuels her artistry. It is within this seemingly small yet profoundly authentic misstep that Sita's unwavering dedication and genuine enthusiasm for her craft shine through, encapsulating the essence of an artist deeply immersed in her creative journey.

Sita attributes her escalating accomplishments to her fierce determination and tireless dedication, a relentless drive that has propelled her forward. Alongside her own unwavering commitment, she acknowledges the instrumental role played by figures such as MC Nuffy, who played a pivotal part in unearthing her talent. Supported by a circle of steadfast friends and devoted family members, Sita embarked on a journey marked by self-belief.

Harnessing her innate prowess, she embarked on a novel endeavor, channeling her energy into freestyle performances set to the cadence of Jamaican dancehall beats, all showcased across her social media platforms. This audacious display caught the discerning eye of MC Nuffy, catalyzing a collaboration that would shape her trajectory. MC Nuffy, recognizing her immense potential, made the conscious choice to align himself with her, a partnership that materialized through his active promotion on his own social media channels.

This partnership yielded even greater rewards as Sita's influence in the music world continued to grow. Recognizing her blossoming talent, the esteemed organizers of Reggae Sting extended a direct invitation to MC Nuffy, cementing her prominent role in the highly anticipated 2022 edition of the event. Through a symphony of determination, talent, and strategic alliances, Sita's ascendancy within the realm of dancehall became an irrefutable testament to her unwavering spirit and the fortifying support that rallied behind her.

Through a symphony of determination, talent, and strategic alliances, Sita's ascendancy within the realm of dancehall became an irrefutable testament to her unwavering spirit and the fortifying support that rallied behind her.

Sita etched her name into the annals of St. Vincent's history by becoming the pioneering Vincentian to grace the stage of the legendary Reggae Sting event. Entering that monumental arena, Sita radiated an undeniable aura of authority, instantly seizing the audience's focus with her mesmerizing freestyle and audaciously clever wordplay.

As her performance unfolded, an electrifying energy permeated the air, a palpable synergy between artist and audience. The crowd's reaction was nothing short of thunderous, an echoing roar of approval that reverberated throughout the venue. Sita's presence on that iconic stage transcended mere performance; it was an assertion of her artistic sovereignty and a vivid embodiment of her impact on the dancehall landscape.

In a single evocative moment, Sita's trailblazing performance not only commanded attention but also solidified her position as a trailblazer, a potent force representing St. Vincent and dancehall musical heritage. The echoes of her stage triumph lingered even after her performance concluded, a testament to her artistry's ability to resonate deeply and etch an indelible mark on the hearts of all who bore witness.

Following her striking debut performance at Sting, Sita has been unwaveringly immersed in the studio, diligently crafting her musical composition. An affirmation of her steadfast work ethic, she has unveiled her recent creation, the single "Put E Pan Me," a vivid manifestation of her developing artistry on a classic dancehall riddim. Moreover, her creative journey has culminated in the completion of a formidable 9-track EP titled "Amplified Emotions" produced by Bless Music Team and Allfaces Ent Production. This multifaceted body of work stands as evidence to her boundless artistic range and serves as a resounding declaration of her unyielding commitment to her craft.

Looking ahead into the horizon, Sita envisions a future where she is acknowledged foremost as a dancehall artist, transcending the confines of being solely identified as a representative of St. Vincent who dabbles in dancehall melodies. Her aspirations encompass a resolute desire to firmly establish her identity within the dancehall realm. Bolstered by an unwavering belief in her creative prowess, she harbors ambitious dreams of attaining recognition that spans beyond borders – both regional and international. Sita's vision extends far beyond the present, encompassing a journey of artistic evolution that propels her to attain a distinguished and resonant presence within the global dancehall fraternity.

Lenardo Ormsby aka Kryziz, is a Jamaican-American rising star, given the talent many claim to possess but few are able to prove. Born in Takoma Park, Maryland to Sylvena Gayle and Lenardo Ormsby, Lenardo was brought into a world full of music notes and laughter.

By the time Kryziz turned three, the thought and familiarity of what was known to be a “whole home” changed, but the drive and love for music was instilled within him. His family packed up their lives and their memories and made way for Georgia which would soon become his home for a long period of time. By the age of twelve, music was all he knew, and he’d rap amongst his peers in school. Friends would gather, people would listen, and it was then that the star was born. At thirteen, Kryziz began to realize his strong need and desire for music, and then learned to write lyrics, giving his style and sound the unique cross between modern American hip hop, and the smooth island feel of Jamaica. Growing up surrounded by negativity and hardships, Kryziz found an escape within the walls of melody, and although he found his niche and purpose he kept it to himself not wanting anyone to discourage or stray him from what was ultimately brewing. Music was more of a way to let go and find his inner peace and happiness.

Lenardo was born from a musical background his mother sang in the local church choir, and his father had a DJ career, known as “rapping”. As the years went on and Kryziz became more and more in tuned with himself and his abilities his confidence grew and he decided to allow more people to know about his talents. When his mother Sylvena came to know about her son’s hidden talent, she was pleasantly surprised and soon bought him an old-fashioned karaoke machine that he used to record his first songs. At the initial start of adolescence, Kryziz formed friendships and acquaintances with young teens that shared his passion and talents. Eventually he met a young woman whose father had an in-home studio where Kryziz would gather amongst striving and driven people who helped him get the experience and better his talents. As many things go, young friends break bonds, and sooner or later Lenardo’s connect were sadly cut short but the passion and love for music never wavered. During this time, Kryziz kept a notebook where he kept his ideas, rhymes, and basically anything that could potentially become something. His entire dream was kept safe within the bindings of that book, and unfortunately was misplaced. After the loss of his notebook, Kryziz took a personal hiatus lyrically, and started to begin the growing pains of young adulthood.

In the year of 2008, Lenardo and his family boarded up once again, but this time on their way to the Sunshine State. Although in an unfamiliar area he still had the passion to start over and reinvent himself. Kryziz started a new school and met different people. One person in particular stood out, and in him Lenardo found a friend, an ally, and a colleague. Chevanne “Chevy” Reid was a young man who shared similar interests and ideas as Kryziz, and shortly after the duo joined forces, a musical genius was born. At first Lenardo was unaware of Chevy’s musical talents as the friendship was built solely on common experiences and mutual laughter. However, as the bond grew stronger the passions and dreams of one another eventually poured out. Over time, the two began freestyling together and developed their own style and flow.

Most of Lenardo’s days consisted of music and songwriting. He became involved with the local music lounge, and with them he was provided local shows at birthday parties, poetry jams, and churches. With a new job and positive outlook, Kryziz could feel the time coming in where his talents would be heard. After working with the music lounge for a while, Kryziz started his search for a better studio, and with the help of social networking, came across a studio by the name of Ocean City where his hit single, “Shotta” was recorded. Kryziz ended up associating with a man named Romeo that worked at a salon where his mother worked. Upon hearing one of his songs, Romeo saw the potential and greatness within him and introduced him to his brother who was in the music scene named Dubs Brandon. Dubs Brandon mentored Kryziz and helped him with his delivery in his music. On May 26, 2014 Kryziz performed at Jerk Fest, where Frankie Paul stopped in the middle of his performance to introduce Kryziz to the world. After all of his hard work, and after one of the most monumental moments in his life, doors began to open for Kryziz. The story of Lenardo “Kryziz” Ormsby is still being written, and the possibilities are completely endless. 2020 is going to be a music enriching year and what was once the untold story will be in plain view for the world to see.
